@Alexey: Take your time... this is not something that I am badly missing :D

@xircon: I am still very clear what it is you want to achieve. A simple "ladder" of carets at the beginning of consecutive lines can be done either with Alt+Shift+Up/Down (and other movement keys) or if you want the mouse with Alt+Mouse Drag. You can also select column blocks that way.

Multiple "ladders" are not yet easily possible as per Alexey's statement.

@xircon
it's already here -

a- make selection
b- command "selection / split selection into lines"
c- left-key moves to begin of each line

so no plugin needed.

@Alexey: wow, that's a neat trick... From the name "selection / split selection into lines" I would never have thought that it does that.

Thanks for bringing this up :!:

Uh oh, I am finally unmasked as a non-ST user :oops:

(Actually I tried ST a long time ago but for some reason I wasn't convinced and decided to stay with Akelpad (also because I just don't like to use non-open-source stuff if I can help it). And back then finding a Linux editor wasn't as pressing as it became in the last 12 months.)

I also looked into the crt plugin... I think I'll stick with that nifty split-selection trick. But thanks for looking into this.

crt plugin... it solves 2nd task - place carets column (1,2,3 columns). so split-selection is another task.

@All
added command "Set carets aligned as column" to CudaExt plugin.
