main Alexey wrote: 02.07.2025 21:25 sorry, we have some small conflict - IT files from 2 ppl.
we now have SINGLE IT package, no _1, _2, _3, _4 versions.
I got IT file here recently,
https://github.com/Alexey-T/CudaText/discussions/5562
can you pls download last IT translation
https://sourceforge.net/projects/cudate ... nslations/
and if you want changes, talk with @bovirus?

Uh, didn't know or remember (sorry in case) this other translation... And why he never contacted me if he wanted to modify something? His re-translation started after mine. I'm open to collaboration of course done in respectful and constructive way without bypassing current maintainers (I didn't know that GitHub thread).

5 mins later
Ok... gave it a look and compared the two and his one was based on an older version, he then kept up to date. In the meanwhile I revised some parts taking into consideration available space, terms more common with other text editors too, English terms re-translated in Ita from simple "on/off" to "font" -> "carattere" (like Word and other Italian text editors do) and many more details like the correct desinence (f) for "tab/tabs" ("scheda/schede", f) related actions... and more...
Not to blow my own trumpet, but I'd say mine is more accurate in the choice of terms and better perfected over time (I use cudatext every day as main editor). My goal has always been to make the translation: 1) more natural, 2) using common terms found in other well-known and established Windows programs, 3) using consistent terminology throughout the file to avoid possible confusion, and 4) with an eye on the "maximum" string length.
The differences are all there (and a bit hard to explain here for non-native Italian speaker ;) Hope I gave just an idea... )
I have no idea why bovirus version was considered a "revised version" (??) when it's not and why he bypassed my activity.
I'm not a newbie in this field and I translate programs since the Amiga era in the 90'... currently maintainer of popular programs like KeePass Password Safe and more, and of course I'm open to collaboration and constructive criticism.

It would be great if we'd start from my current one and propose changes or report errors, because is the most accurate version to go with (not because is mine), honestly.

https://github.com/hexaae - is it your account? if so can you talk in github with @bovirus, I want that he say OK to use your version? I don't want to ignore his work without his OK reply.

... I finally got a reply from bovirus (see https://github.com/Alexey-T/CudaText/di ... t-14161355 discussion) and he simply ignored any proposal to try finding a unified Italian translation, basically because he has his own (mis)conceptions on how to use some verbs and terms even if proved wrong by many examples in professional programs (he probably thinks are all wrong.... just like when I posted a Windows screenshot to prove by facts his personal (!) prejudices and beliefs about the use of 'MOSTRA' were mistaken on GitHub, and he ignored it)...

He answered me in a quick and peremptory manner saying he thinks we have two different "approach" (?) on how to translate things (I've been translating programs and games for 20+ years and I guess I'm proficient in English enough) and he doesn't want to collaborate:
"In my opinion, there are too many differences to explain them in detail.

I believe that at this point it would be preferable to have two different Italian translations.

Thank you. Bye."
... so I think this is a dead-end... He just created a branch from my original translation (which started first), gave no factual motivations to why his changes would be "better" (and believe me they are not) and goes on like this preventing any co-work possibility at this point.

As for me, I stand by the quality of my work, backed by years of experience (professional and not) in the field and supported by concrete facts and even examples from other professional translations. I prefer not to speak ill of others’ work, not my style, so I’m not sure what else to add. My commitment in collaborating for a unified translation was genuine but unfortunately I don't see the same spirit from the other side. :(

I think I will take your version then. also because your version started first and @bovirus made a fork.
we have no place for 2 versions now.
maybe translate the new string in 1.227.0 and publish it.
