Move Sidebar buttons + other

Post by sl23 »

Is there a way to move these buttons? I'd like to Move the Menu and Search buttons to the main Toolbar. Or A second toolbar if that isn't possible.

Btw, I'm quite impressed by CudaText! It's come a long way since I last looked at it. SynWrite is the best Notepad replacement there is in my opinion.
I'm not a programmer, except the odd snippet being edited now and then if I can, as well as editing code in Rainmeter. But I so much prefer a programmers Notepad than the plain ones that are always lacking something useful.

I only just found out that SynWrite has a plugin for highlighting focused text, after about 5 years of use!

CT still lacks some things that make it usable for me though, not being a programmer it's difficult to understand the whole setup and changing options.
Took me a while to find out how to change Lexers! The online help was fantastic but lacked a vital instruction! disabling the ui_lexer_themes option in settings. I also have trouble finding the settings for everything due to the labelling of menu items. It's not very clear what's what. But that could be me?

Can we hide the main menu bar at all? Seeing as there's a button for the main menu it's sort of defunct if you rarely use it, as I do.

Is there a way to reduce icon size on the toolbar?

Thanks for a great editor, I hope you manage to add more functions from SynWrite as this is looking to be the best replacement I can find, for me at least. Believe me I've tried them all!

My only gripe is that I prefer to use the Corbel font as the Editor font, which looks awful! Consolas is ok, just, but maybe one day CT can use non-monospace fonts too?

EDIT: I specified a Caret colour, but it's displayed it's negative to the colour specified in the dialog! So, for Aqua it displays Red.

absolutely agree… SynWrite was the best, but CudaText is New King, please switch completely ASAP, and you will fall in love

hide menu - ui_menu_show, then e.g. F10 - ui: main menu as popup
(I hope than plugin Options Editor is installed on your side…)

SideBars - look at ui_sidebar_xxx - very useful!

I was amazed when I looked through the default settings JSON file and realised I could change so much of CT to act like SW! Thanks so much for your work Alexey!!! Absolutely brilliant, even for a non-programmer! You're so damn good at this, I only wish you'd make a File Manager so I can replace CubicExplorer! ;) Just can't find anything I like!

Would you consider it as a request? Moving Sidebar icons. Or maybe, a custom Toolbar that can add anything from CT's toolbars?

custom toolbar is better. than moving buttons. try the "Config Toolbar" plugin, pls- it has config dialog for toolbar to put buttons after std buttons.

I have that installed. But when I set it up the other day, I added two buttons for Minimap and Toggle comment. Trouble is, I added an icon for the Toggle Comment button and the icon is shown over the Minimap button?! How do I correct this? I can't even find the dialogue to open the options for editing! I go to the PluginsConfigure Toolbar menu but all that's there is the Menu button I just created! Which works a treat, so thanks for that.

Also, is there a way to move items on this Toolbar? I have the Menu button on the right, but clicking it shows the menu on the left. I would like to move the Menu button to the left if possible.

Thank you.

There's also no Toggle Code Tree or Search/Find commands that can be added to the Toolbar.
I found the ui: show side panel: code tree command, but once open you cann't close it without the sidebar button!

all needed commands are present in Cmd Palette.
- show side panel/ code tree
- hide side panel
- dialog: find
- hide dialog: find
- toggle find/replace dialog
you can add them in ConfigToolbar

Please check the attached screenshot.

It shows that the Minimap Button displays the icon which was set for the button to it's right, which is to Toggle Line Comments. Whose icon is blank.
When setting the Menu Button, it's icon showed then didn't show. But seems stable now.
The Options Dialogue button shows no icon despite being set correctly too.

But for the life of me, I cannot remember how to go back and rectify the issues with the Comments and Minimap. They aren't showing in the Configure Toolbar window. Is there another window where these are added?

When I open the Configure Toolbar window, only two buttons are shown, Menu and Toggle Code Tree. The other three buttons aren't shown. So either they are edited in another part of CudaText's settings or there is a bug here.
